Engagement Director

We are seeking a highly networked and experienced Engagement Director to advance outreach and engagement efforts within financial and diplomatic circles and the civil society movement at large. 

The Position:

The Engagement Director is responsible for supporting the uptake of key research outputs and advancing  policy interventions within the international banking and investment sector and political landscape. The Engagement Director  will also be a member of the leadership team, serve as one of the organization’s spokespeople, maintain key institutional relationships, and support communications and development strategies. This is a full-time, exempt position and reports to the Executive Director. This position will be remote.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Engagement Director is responsible for supporting Earth Insight research uptake and driving productive connections between and among communities and decision makers of all kinds 
  • Develop and lead an international engagement strategy designed for the financial sector and key domestic and international institutions and government agencies
  • Serve on the leadership team and contribute creative insights campaign connected to ideation, design, production, and amplification stages of work streams
  • Partner and collaborate with key stakeholders, including international and regional Indigenous-led and other civil society  organizations
  • Work with and support other Earth InSight teams in advancing successful research and engagement strategies that support and achieve program goals and objectives
  • Support development efforts (proposal development, donor engagement, etc.), and contribute to impact reports, proof of concepts, etc. for current and prospective donors
  • Support cross-program priorities (ex: communications strategies) as needed
  • Develop and implement strategies for the release of research outputs at key international fora

Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years experience in international policy and/or advocacy work (preferably including finance-sector and diplomatic strategies)
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing engagement and/or advocacy strategies that resulted in public or private sector policy changes and improved environmental and/or social outcomes
  • Highly networked and in-depth experience working in coalition and building and maintaining strategic institutional relationships
  • Issue expertise in forests, land or water conservation, fossil fuels, indigenous rights, biodiversity, debt relief, and/or other key issue areas
  • Excellent writing, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • Self motivation and strong organizational skills
  • Fluency in at least one other language than English preferred (preferably Spanish and/or French)

Compensation:

The salary range is $125,000 – $150,000 based on experience. We have an alternate Fridays off work schedule (employees work 40 hours one week, 32 hours the next week) and offer a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k plan with a 5% match, and generous paid time off. RLF also offers a technology allowance, student loan repayment assistance, the Calm app, mental health benefits and approximately 17 paid holidays per year.
